Custom & Bespoke Jewelry

Thank you for considering Jane Sydney Studio to create something made just for you.

Design Consultation

Every project begins with a conversation about your ideas — if you have reference photos, a budget, material in mind, or a timeline. The inquiry form below covers most of these questions and is a good place to start.

I'll develop sketches, design concepts, and an estimated quote so you can decide whether you'd like to move forward before reserving your place in my schedule.

From June 10 through August 10, I do not accept deposits for new custom commissions. I still welcome you to inquire during this time — I'm happy to develop your design and provide a quote so you're ready to book when custom commissions reopen.

Deposits & Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before work begins on all custom and semi-custom commissions.

The required deposit is based on the total value of the project. Payment plans are available and work begins once the required deposit threshold has been met.

Payment in Gold

You can pay some or all of your deposit or final balance with unworn, unwanted, or unused gold.

This is different from heirloom recycling or reworking — where your own sentimental gold is melted and reused in your new piece. In those cases, your gold is not used as payment for initial deposit. If more gold is recovered than is needed for your project, the unused gold can be returned to you or "sold" to me against the remaining final balance.

If you're commissioning a piece in silver, prefer fresh gold, or another metal, you may instead use unwanted gold as payment toward your new project.

Gemstone Sourcing

I have a treasure trove of gemstones, opals, cabochons, and other stones in my studio inventory, all with fixed pricing for you to choose from during the design process.

Gemstone sourcing typically only applies when you're looking for a diamond or a specific gemstone that I do not already have in my inventory.

As a registered jeweler, I can help you find the right gemstone or diamond for your project, with access to a large online inventory of natural diamonds to fit an array of personalities and budgets.

For bridal and engagement pieces only, I will help you source authentic lab diamonds if a natural diamond doesn't suit your needs.

We can work together to find the right stone for your piece, and I welcome you to be as involved in the gem selection process as you wish.

Production Timeline

Gemstone sourcing and final design tweaks (if applicable) begin once the required deposit threshold has been met. Fabrication follows once the design is finalized. Once your deposit has been received and you approve the design, most custom pieces are completed within 5-9 weeks.

If your piece is needed for a specific date, please let me know as early as possible — I have been known to make miracles happen.

Final Payment

The remaining balance is due within 14 days of notification that your piece is complete.

Final Payment

Final payment must be received before your piece is shipped or made available for pickup.

Timeline

Timelines may vary depending on the complexity of the project, gemstone sourcing, and my current commission schedule.

Gemstones

The final gemstone selection and price will always be approved by you before purchase.

If I am sourcing a gemstone or diamond for your project, your quote will include an estimated gemstone cost based on your budget. This estimate is used to calculate your initial deposit, and any difference in the final stone cost will be reflected in the remaining balance.

Abandoned Commissions

Completed commissions that remain unpaid for 90 days after notification of completion will be considered abandoned. Because custom jewelry is made specifically for one client, all payments made — including deposits — are non-refundable. Jane Sydney Studio reserves the right to retain, redesign, or resell abandoned pieces after the 90-day period.

Changes & Cancellations

Because each commission is created specifically for you, deposits are non-refundable once work has begun. Any significant design changes requested after fabrication has started may require additional time and materials, and may result in additional charges.

Payment in Gold

Jane Sydney Studio accepts gold at the current standard scrap rate on the day it is received, typically scrap rate is 30-40% below spot price. This accounts for stone removal, processing, and refining.
