Making

l've always been drawn to jewelry that feels intentionally chosen on someone, something that feels lived with, things that feel like they belong to you. Living in Annapolis (most of the time!)- much of my inspiration comes from the Chesapeake Bay. The incredibly rich maritime history we have here is a constant source of inspiration. This connection with the water and the life around it is further entrenched into my heart during summers spent living in Downeast costal Maine. Tucked away in one of those timeless sort of place's.

I appreciate that carefully sourced gemstones support ethical mining practices, uplift communities and support small lapidaries. The gemstones and their stories are a source of inspiration

Making

Jane Sydney Studio began in 2019 as a desire to wear pieces I couldn't find and slowly grew into a focused practice. I design and fabricate each piece by hand in my studio in Annapolis, working in small batches and allowing ideas to evolve through doing.

I'm interested in creating jewelry that feels settled and enduring, pieces you reach for instinctively, wear often, and keep close because they feel like you.

I utilize a number of different methods, including traditional hand fabrication, in house lost-wax casting. I do not use AI, 3D printing or computer generated design/ CAD

Life

I live in Annapolis with my husband, Camrin, and our two kids. When I'm not in the studio, we're usually outside-on the boat, cooking, or walking shorelines in search of fossils and, overlooked treasures. In summer, we spend time off-grid on the coast of Maine, restoring a century-old cabin and living ontop of the ever changing tides.

Commitment to Quality

What materials Are Used?

Jane Sydney Studio jewelry is handcrafted fine jewelry. Made using solid sterling silver 925 or solid karat gold (10k, 14k,18k) and natural gemstones. Pearl and bead strands are hand knotted with hand dyed silk and handcrafted solid precious metal connections.

Where are your products manufactured?

Meticulously made by hand start to finish -not manufactured- in Annapolis, MD. Your jewelry is made with intention. Fully designed, sourced and fabricated by Jane using centuries old metalsmithing techniques

Why do you only use natural gemstones?

I am constantly in awe of the beauty found in nature. I choose to showcase earths little treasures rather then focous on machined gemstones. I beilve that natural gemstones enhance the connection and enrich the "story" of a peice of jewlery. Ethical and informed sourcing means that gemstones used in my work are authentic, they support small mining comunities in impoverished areas, they fund lapidary artists and emit less co2 and chemical waste then synthetic and lab grown gems.

Where are your stones from?

I am meticulous and obsessive when it comes to the stones used in my work. Hours of research goes into my stone sourcing. I spend time making true connections with reputable stone sellers, lapidary artists, and even small mining operations- all over the world. This ensures authenticity, quailty, and tracability in the stones I use.
